How did you get your start racing short course?

-When I was about seven years old, my dad was racing a Pro Lite and I saw the karts on the track and wanted to race them. He got me a Jr.1 kart for my eighth birthday and I was more than excited to race it! However, it was a struggle at the beginning for all of us. I had no idea what I was doing and we had to figure out the best way to work on the kart to make it faster. Over time it got easier and I got faster; we slowly got up to the point where I was getting on the podium in the Jr. Karts.

What is AMA Plastics?

AMA Plastics began operation in Anaheim, CA as Mold Tronics Inc in 1971, established by veterans Joe and Jim Atchison, who are Mark Atchison’s father and uncle. Mark Atchison is the current CEO of the company. In 1993, three buildings were consolidated into one operation. Completely built from the ground up, Anaheim, CA became AMA Plastics headquarters. In 1994 AMA Plastics opened a 35,000 squarefoot injection molding facility in Tucson, AZ. Continuing the company’s growth, in 1995 AMA Plastics completed a move to a newly renovated facility in Corona, CA, putting the five building operations all under one 90,000 squarefoot facility, operating 30 presses and employing 300 people. Today, AMA Plastics operates 93 molding machines, is a TOP 100 molder in North America and has approximately 500 employees. We are an employeeowned/ESOP company and TOP workplace in the Inland Empire. AMA Plastics is a worldclass supplier of custom plastic injection molding.
