Tell us about your racing background and what brought you to the Lucas Oil Regional Series:  I grew up going to desert races to watch my Dad and Karl Scanlan race.  I would beg my Dad to let me race but at age 7, I was too little. So he surprised me with a J1 kart.  Karl made me a track on his property to practice.  When I was 8, I did my 1st race in the J1 kart in the desert.  For a couple years, I played around in the desert with the kart.  When I was 11, I did my 1st race in the Lucas Oil Regional.

Tell us about your racing background and what brought you to the Lucas Oil Regional Series: Well, I use to watch my Dad and Karl Scanlan race in the desert for years, and I thought I’d give it a go. With no racing experience, I started in the J1 Kart class in the Lucas Oil Regional Series when I was 8 years old.

Hot Laps: Kipp Mickels

Tell us about your racing background and what brought you to the Lucas Oil Regional Series: I started off racing in the desert in 2012 we built a Polaris RZR and started racing BITD. Then shortly after that I also started racing the WORCS short course racing. In between these series I would go to the grand prix races. In 2 of the Worcs races they incorporate the Lucas track in their track and I took a liking to the track. When I had heard that Lucas had a UTV class I decided to go to a race, and from there I was hooked. Then from watching the Pro Lite class “I thought one day I’m gonna’ do that”. An opportunity came my way and I ended up with a pro lite spec truck.

Tell us about your racing background and what brought you into the Lucas Oil Regional Series: What brought me into the Lucas Oil Regional Series is that my dad owns a business called Xtreme Machine and Fabrication. His business builds Prolites, Mod Karts, RZR 1000 and RZR 170s. I was looking for a way to race that we could afford.
