Hot Laps: Jimmy Weitzel III

Tell us about your racing background and what brought you to the Lucas Oil Regional Series: It all started when I was two years old doing donuts on my 50cc Quad.  I was so small I couldn’t even touch the floor guards. When I was five I got my first trophy kart and raced the Podium Series out at Lake Elsinore before they even had the main track they have today. I remember being the youngest driver and taking home first place for the championship. The season was over and I began racing motocross until my tenth birthday when my dad brought home my first ever Mod Kart. I raced Mods for 4 years and then had the opportunity to step into a Pro Lite for the first time this year.

Hot Laps: Cory Winner

Tell us about your racing background and what brought you to the Lucas Oil Regional Series: I went to my first short course race at Chula Vista in 2006 when CORR was still around. My dad’s company Fabtech was one of the series sponsors and sponsored Rick Huseman for a few years so after that point we were always at the races scraping mud off of Rick’s Pro4! When Trophy Karts came out, my brother and I got JR.1 karts. He finished 2nd and I finished in 3rd in the championship. I raced those for a couple years and raced Mod Kart for 1 year. Last year I made the jump into Prolite and decided to run the Lucas Oil Regional series so I could get valuable seat time and get used to that class of racing.
